El Soto is, without a doubt, the city’s great green lung. This peri-urban park has become one of the main leisure and recreation areas for locals and visitors, who enjoy both its natural features and its accessibility and recreational facilities. Covering more than 40 hectares, it is a protected natural area, recognized as a Natural Recreation Zone within the Network of Natural Spaces of Castilla y León. It is also part of the Natura 2000 Network, specifically within the Special Area of Conservation “Banks of the Adaja River and tributaries.” In this initial area, a wide variety of tree species can be seen: native species, found throughout the space, coexist with ornamental species introduced to add richness and biodiversity, also serving as shelter and food for numerous animal species. Here we find most of the public services and facilities, as it is the busiest and most accessible area for users and visitors.
