We reach the southernmost part of El Soto, where the route ends upon reaching the road, or we can take the path that branches off to our right and leads us, following the course of the Adaja River, towards the municipality of El Fresno. If we choose this alternative, we soon find ourselves in a different environment: although the riparian forest remains, the ash grove disappears, giving way to open spaces where numerous meadows and pastures used for livestock appear.
Being located in this area so close to the river, the conditions are perfect for these types of environments to thrive — almost always green and fresh, and often flooded — which allows species of the wader group and even, as is increasingly common, spoonbills, to find perfect feeding grounds. Likewise, many birds of prey can be observed along our walk in this area, as the open spaces without tree cover are more favorable for their search for food.
