We begin this route on the outskirts of the city, in an agricultural and livestock environment, a landscape shaped by the interaction between nature and humans. This setting is made up of traditional crops, mainly rainfed cereals such as barley, wheat, and rye, alternated with grazing lands, both for livestock feeding and for haymaking, along with other fallow or uncultivated fields, which are particularly interesting due to the biological communities they host.
These transformed areas are surrounded by others of a more natural character, such as the slope to the north, where a very dense holm oak grove thrives; the small but noteworthy stand of stone pines nearby, which will be described later; or the courses of the Chico River and the Las Carretas stream, both of which feature an interesting riparian forest environment.
