At this point, we are in an environment of great ecological value: an important colony of storks and grey herons, which have found a perfect refuge in this stone pine grove and which currently holds the maximum possible number of nests. In fact, the colony has been expanding, occupying new areas in the surroundings, with nests built on holm oaks, poplars, buildings, and even power lines.
We are looking at one of the largest colonies in the province of Ávila. This is mainly due to its proximity to one of the most important feeding points for these birds, which, unfortunately, is the landfill located in the nearby town of Urraca-Miguel. Because they have found a permanent source of food throughout the year, the migratory habits of these animals have been altered, with many of them now staying in this area during the winter.
